Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy and Equine Experiential Learning are not methods or techniques for training or riding. They represent models of and opportunities for relational, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. What you learn and experience from these modalities is easily integrated into whatever discipline or style of training or riding you prefer, often resulting in better relationship, connection, performance, and health for both human and horse.
Equine Assisted Growth and Learning (EAGL) is an emerging form of activities in which horses help facilitate positive changes in people. Unlike the more familiar therapeutic riding programs, most EAGL activities take place on the ground. Participants interact with horses and then process what they have learned in small group discussions. Experience with horses is not required.
These innovative activities are effective for a unique team development training, individual, family or group counseling. They build on creative problem solving and effective communication skills.
